About the procedure

A little clarity.
A considered decision.

Otoplasty changes the shape, position or proportion of the external ears. It may be considered for prominent ears, structural differences present from development or changes after injury. One or both ears can be assessed, and the approach depends on the specific concern. The goal is an individually considered change, rather than perfect symmetry. Your consultation should cover ear structure, personal expectations, scar placement and the risks of surgery. Any concerns about hearing need separate assessment, because cosmetic ear reshaping does not treat hearing loss.

A little clarity

Your questions,
answered.

Can one ear be treated?

Yes, one or both ears may be considered after assessment.

Will otoplasty improve hearing?

Cosmetic ear reshaping does not treat hearing loss.

Will the ears be perfectly identical?

Exact symmetry cannot be guaranteed; natural differences may remain.

Does adding this procedure confirm my suitability?

No. Build My Plan records your interests for discussion. A qualified clinician must assess suitability, risks and any alternatives.

How do I find out my own recovery plan?

Ask your treating team for written instructions, review arrangements and contact details appropriate to your procedure and health.
